Or you can look at the sticker on the door jamb under "AXLE". Two numbers is an open diff, a letter and a number is a limited slip. The second character tells you the ratio. 1 is 3.73, 2 is 4.20, 3 is 4.30 so for ecample a C1 is a limited slip 3.73 and a 33 is an open diff 4.30. There are two tags on the right side of your rear diff, one is the oil weight requirement and the other is the axle ID tag. It read something like this:
3V 435H
3 L 73 10 5 3E06
Yours will probably have a 3S in the first position (Plant code in this case Sterling Heigths Michigan axle plant.)
The 435H is the axle model and revision.
The third item is your ratio. 3 73 is 3.73 obviously but there will be an L there if your axle is a limited slip. Without the L, it's an open diff.
The 4th item is the ring gear diameter, 10.5". The 5th item is the axle's build date, 3E06 means May 6th 2003. If your axle was made say March 24 2000, your code would be 0C24. Comprende?
