Just something to think about. If you choose the V10 and want an auto trans, you're presently stuck with the marginally weak 4 speed, if you go with the PSD, you have the 5 speed which in itself is worth the price. Like you, I had some hard decisions a couple months ago. Since I wanted only a 6 speed manual trans, the choice for me was V10 or PSD. I went with the V10 because I drive only about 10k per year and continually get about 11-12mpg to & from work. The PSD just costs too much to justify for me. $4-5k up front, higher maintenance costs, and marginal use for short trips around town. I've never regretted the V10 choice.

Here are my thouoghts: For me, the 5.4 is fine. I have absolutely no problems with staying at speeds in excess of legality on the highway at any time. It is powerful enough for me, but I came from a 300 I6. I thought about a diesel, but the initial cost, as well as higher maintanance costs would never be overcome as I drive about 6000 miles a year. People act like the 5.4 is weak, but you fail to realize that only a few years ago, even the big blocks had less power.
