I need help! I have a 2000 Excursion. The engine surges every once in a while at coasting speeds (usually low speeds - 30mph) and sometimes at light acceleration.I have 101,000 miles on it and I have had the same problem for about 20,000 miles. I had Ford look at it three different times, but of course it didn't surge for their test drive around the parking lot every time. I have had the cam sensor replaced at 80,000 and 98,000 miles.(Is this normal?) Also had an ICP sensor replaced at 98,000 miles. It is very frustrating when the mechanic does not find anything wrong and the next day I am trying to drive through a school zone with my truck involuntarily accelerating periodically through it. I would appreciate any input anyone may have.
Just a thought, my buddys truck did the same thing and replaced the ICP & Cam Position Sensor and didn't go away, until we replaced the pedal sensor. Hope this will help. Good Luck
We hade that same problem on 89 E350 Ambulance 7.3 back when I was a EMT. And the problem was the injection pump was loseing it seals. And we cased that problem for almost a year.
