I have a 64 F100 with a 292 Y-Block. I will be removing the 292 and putting in a 390.
I have an engine mount adapter from trans-adapt. This is a bolt in unit.
The question I have is in regard to the oil pan. The 292 engine has the sump located in the back to help clear the solid front axle.
The 390 I'm putting in has a front sump oil pan.
This truck was lowered with mono leaf springs, so the axle rides close to the stock oil pan.
Has anyone put a 390 into a 64? Will the front sump pan clear, or will I need to find a 4x4 pan with the sump in the back.
It looks like it might be close, I don't want to find out the hard way.
I have a 390 in my `63 (same frame, axle) but mine is not lowered (yet). I have bottomed the axle slightly into the pan before, if yours is lowered, you may run into clearance problems. When I get the Fatman IFS and the 429 in it, I'm going to run a rear sump pan.
