2003 xlt door panel removal

2003 xlt door panel removal
Does anyone know how to remove the door panel from a 2003 xlt so i can install new speakers? I was told by someone to remove "the screws" on the door ahndle, but, there arent any. I refuse to pay $150 to have my new speakers installed. Thanks! Lenny

First there is two screws on the bottom on the front door, unscrew them first, next you have to take off the panel with all the window controls, be careful though the pieces break easily, you have to kind of pull up and forward. Next pull the door handle forward and pop that panel around the handle out (i kinda use a flat head screw driver and wedge it in slowly), next you will find one more screw in that area unscrew it and lift the door panel up and out, don't forget to disconnect the switch for the power mirrors...the back doors are the same but only have one screw on the bottom...I find the back doors to be easier than the front...good luck

If they are the same as an 04 ,I can tell you its not that hard .
Because i've had my 04 apart.
1)remove 2 screws at bottom of door panell
2)there is a removable panel around the the inside door handle ,you need to slip a thin blade putty knife behind this panel and gently pull out .as you are kneeling looking at the small panel around the handle.the left hand edge has no clips that hold it only these tabs that slip in slots.
on your right hand side there are 2 metal clips that pop straight out.
After you get that panel off ,you need to remove the sw panel
3)The switch panel is removed by pressing your fingers down along the top back edge of the switch panel ,2 tabs will click ,slip you fingers behind an under the sw panel an gently pull up .it will pop up ,disconnect wires .
there is a screw the same size as the 2 you removed previously under this panel remove it
4)Now the door panel just lifts up and off .
