97 PSD dies

I haVE a questin about my friends moms stock 97 F350 SRW PSD cew cab Manual trans. 200K miles She drove it "all day" and drove in the drive way and it just "died" will turn over but will not restart! New wix fuel filterthat I personaly put on! ans still nothing. Oh wait 6 hrs later it fired up!! yah!!!!!!!!! I drove it for 15 minutes and it shut down(like i just turned off the key) .

When cranking it in the "no start" situation does the tach register any RPM? If not, you probably have a Cam Position Sensor on its way out.

Common failure.

My tach on my 00 PSD does not register anything when cranking and my CPS is fine, or does it onyl apply for older PSD's?

Mine too. No tach movement until the engine actually fires. Sounds like the cps to me also.

My Tach. will show 300 to 400 rpm when starting. 97 HD PSD 4X4

I would say take a fuel pressure test if you can on these PSD's, i'm pretty sure you can.
