guide plates 429

i have a question about installing guide plates on my C8VE heads. i have a new set of rocker arms with a roller tip, no side railes to guide push rods. i will have to install guide plates. my question is will i have to have heads milled down under the rocker arm stud equel to the thicknes of the plates to keep every thing at the proper length? i know i will have to get hardend push rods, for the plates, or will i be able just install the guide plates and get longer pushrods??? THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!

The two sets of heads I have done I had to mill .230 off. I tried to run the first ones without doing it and the guides didn't like it at all. What usually happens is you run out of threads before you get the slack out of the pushrods. You will want to check your pushrod length also. The roller should be on the back edge of the valve stem with the valve closed and travel across the valve stem to the outside with the valve open. The roller should be in the center of the valve stem at half lift.
