In the past I've found lots of help here on keeping my old F- 250 running but this time I'm looking for advice in a diffrerent area.
I'm hoping some of you FTE members can steer me in the right direction for cell phone companies, cell plans / phones. I'm suddenly in the market for a basic no frills phone and don't have much knowlege in this area. Most of my friends live in the dark ages like I do and don't have much advice in this area. Can any of you clue me in on what you think are the best deals on cell plans and cell phones currently out there ?
It a leash.....................If you would talk to people with Nextel....its pretty good deal, when you get the unlimited direct connect. Use these for the vast majority of our work place communications. I'm satisfied with them. http://www.nextel.com/
Otherwise, I'm a fan of Cingular. They always seem to be one step ahead of the market when it comes to customer perks. http://www.cingular.com/
Alltel is the best around here. I've always been partial to Motorola phones myself. I had one of those freebie Nokias for a while and absolutly hated it. I have a Motorola T720 that I really like now.
Stay away from the Motorola T720..I'm on my 5th one in less than a year. Breaks constantly on it's own. Verizon gave me another one free every time but..now that the 1st year is up i am going to have to pay for it next time. Piece of junk.
I second the t720 thing....got one last week and already it's a piece it just doesn't measure up. As a matter of fact i'd rather have my old nokia back. Plus it doesn;t pick up service on the new cingular GSM network where i live. A mile either way and it's perfect, but no,not where i eat sleep and hang out.
when I got mine they said that the first few batched weren't real good. But that they have had good luck with the newer ones. They havn't had any problems with the newer ones. Of course alltel runs a different network than most of the other companys.
This is like trying to tell someone what underwear to own.
Has to be as many different views on this…as there is posts…….............on this.
However, I will chime in Verizon. with a LGX4400.
Now I have started something.
Personally I shopped around, when I was stationed in Texas Cingular was the most convenient, with 600 roll-over minutes and a Motorola V120, I believe. It was a great phone, not too small, but sleek. The price was around $50 a month cause I chose the 7pm option for the unlimited nights and weekends. Now that I am here in Colorado I have to use T-Mobile, no cingulars here, at least not then. They are OK, I have nationwide, as long as I have a signal there is no roaming. My advice though is to check out the internet deals. You can get much better phone and minute packages than if you go to some retail store in a mall or something. Phone comes ready to go. Charge it for a good 20 hours before really using it and you'll be set. Good luck.
I'm surprised most posts are concerned about the phone itself and not the calling plan. You should have a good idea of where most of your calls will be originated or received from. Choose a carrier based on that geographical fact.
I believe they are competitively priced. I chose Verizon because of the nation-wide calling area.
i second the Verizon....I have been with them for about 4 years and I have lost a signal on rare occasion. I feel they treat me well and fix any problems promptly. I live in GA so I dunno if it would apply to you, but they do have a nationwide plan that i have heard is really good!
Just FYI... I have had Cingular for several Years... It was still Bellsouth when originally got it and have been very pleased with the service.
I spoke with my Cingular insider last week...If you can wait another month or so Cingular will be the way to go. With the purchase of AT&T wireless (46 billion dollars in cash...can you believe) Cingular will have the largest network and customer base with a wider selection of options and phones.
