I want to put a 4-inch list on my 79 f-150. What pieces do I need to do it properly. I was looking at the skyjacker lift. I want to make sure its right so I don't have problems later.
I would personally say to make sure that you get a good quality lift - cheap lifts are exactly as they sound - CHEAP. And when your talking about a vehicle suspension, for anything to not be as good as it needs to be or better can become a saftey hazard. Skyjacker, Superlift, and Rancho are all good standing companies.
A personal recommendation would be to go with full lift springs front and back, I wouldn't go with the lift block or the body lift route.
this is off the subject a little but 78fordman why would he need to fab a new clutch rod if he is going to slap on a susp. lift? i as well agree with pentekno2 skyjacker, superlift are good lifts from personal experience i wouldnt recommend rancho though. as well i would go with the new springs and coils instead of the blocks. for prices and info check out these sites: www.4wheelparts.com www.ntwonline.com www.rockymountainsusp.com www.broncograveyard.com www.tyres1.com
they will give ya an idea of prices and what all comes with the lifts....good luck
Ive got a skyjacker 4" on my 78. On top of the lift kit you need shocks (I have Skyjacker Nirtos) A drop pitman. Trackbar drop bracket an new track bar bushings. I recomend dual Skyjacker stering stabilizers since youll be probaly runing 35's (Ive got them) Also stainless brake lines. You might need new rear U bolts because the usualy dont easily come undone if theve been on there for 25 years or so. If you want to try to get them appart douse them daily for a week or so with an industrial penitrating oil and use alot of heat and a big cheater bar to get them off (I had to get mine glowing chery red a couple time and had to use a 4' cheater bar to get mine them loose). Theres pics of my truck in my gallery I you have any more questions let me know.
I know this is an old thread but please let me add.. KNOW WHAT YOU ARE GETTING! I ordered stuff from 4Wheelparts thinking i was getting everything, but im ending up buying the lift piece by piece.. I have spent over $1200 on my lift so far and i still need tires!! lol. Just make sure you are getting everything and dont go the same route as me
