I have a 79 f150 ranger, c6, 205 and a 400. I want my truck to be a manual. I dont think it will be to hard putting in the new tranny and and transfer case. Its the clutch im worried about. Has anyone done this before. Are there any kits out there that will make this easier
You'll have to read down a bit but Proeliator goes into some minor detail as to what is needed to make the conversion. He's switching from a C-6 to NP435 (behind a 460, same bellhousing as 400). Seems to be a bit of a chore, finding all the parts, but it's doable.
How will you drink your coffee and talk on the cell phone?
Guess a manual is then an accident deterent? No spilled hot beverages in your lap or rear-ending someone as you talk on the phone... lol All my newer vehicles are stick, all my older ones are auto - go figure.
What I am trying to figure out is all that is involved in swapping an auto (c6) to a hydraulic clutch + 5 speed. Probably a few extra steps when going the hydraulic route. Plus since the 70's trucks never used hyd (?) then I am not sure of the parts will all bolt up without fabrication?
