I saw a post a while back that somene had put a daystar kit on a 2x4. My questions are:
1. How did it affect the ride?
2. Is it the same kit as the 4x4?
3. I am adding a ranchhand grill gaurd will it sag with the extra 75Lbs on the front.
4. How much should I look to pay for the kit and instal?
I put the DayStar lift on my 2004 Lariat 2X4 and love the result...made the truck level and allowed me to put a set of American Racing Motto 20 X 9 rims with 305/55/20 Nitto TerraGraplers...changed the whole look of the truck.
I paid $ 115 on eBay for the lift and my local 4X4 shop installed it for $180.
Do It...you will be glad you did !
P.S. Got the rims and tires at Discount Tire...they were very helpful.
1. How did it affect the ride? -- only makes the front end sit a little higher . Other than that, no noticeable change in the ride for me. 2. Is it the same kit as the 4x4? -- as far as I know, yes. 3. I am adding a ranchhand grill gaurd will it sag with the extra 75Lbs on the front. -- I can't see why that would matter with the kit. The spacers are strong. If the guard is going the make the truck sag a little before the kit, then it'll do the same after. It's a wash. 4. How much should I look to pay for the kit and instal? -- I paid the local 4WheelParts.com store $272 after TX taxes. They had to match the price of the kit for older models ($35 less) due to a quoting error on their part. I also had them do an alignment afterwards. I got them to match the local alignment shop's quote of $60 for this. $272 included everything ... out the door.
If you are okay with spending this money, then get the kit! It really makes the truck look better. Good luck.
Hi Gordo I called the 4wdparts in Austin and they quoted me $467.00 with tax and the alligment, I also called all three stores in Houston and there were from $455-$475. That is quite a differnce than you paid. Can you tell me who you delt with in Austin so I can talk to him.
Thanks
Dave
yep, identical kit for 4x2 and 4x4, same suspension design, coilover strut. I wonder what gives the 4x4 a 1.25" higher front end stock(besides tires), longer struts???
Geez, the Desert Rat store here in Phoenix quoted me
$387. That's $125 for the Daystar Kit, $8 delivery of the kit from
the local Daystar Factory, $160 to install spacers on both sides, $75 ailgnment (Rep. said it was recommended - even though I told him no it wasn't), and last state taxes. Might be cheaper doing it myself! Just win the kit on e-bay and install it. What do you guys think?
1. How did it affect the ride? Looks great sitting in 35's
2. Is it the same kit as the 4x4?No, its not. Well thats what the guy who put it on said.
3. I am adding a ranchhand grill gaurd will it sag with the extra 75Lbs on the front. I changed my front bumper for a special one that weights about 70 kilograms which are about 130lbs. I believe
4. How much should I look to pay for the kit and instal?
I paid $250 plus 660 for the bf goodrich tires.
