Well, if y'all are going to come up my way..let's plan this out so that I can take some time off to be available to give you a halfway decent tour of the area. We have lots of Hotels or camping areas close to town and you may want to make reservations in the hotels early. I don't think finding a place to camp would be too hard...but I've never really paid attention since I don't camp out much anymore since getting hitched. ( Wife is terrified of bugs!! ) Also, what kind of camping are you into? Hard sided ( camper ) or tent? Do you like heavily populated campsites or primitive?
Anyway, let me know plenty ahead of time and I'll do what I can to help make arrangements and make some plans for the time you are up here.
Looking forward to meeting you guys.

Reason: add more info
I'm pretty sure I could ask for a few days off that week to come see ya, Dick, although I must confess, I'd really like to see Tims 41....
I'll have to wait for a few months before I ask for time off that week... I haven't even started at the job I will have when that time of year rolls around...
I like Justin's plan of a tour - ROAD TRIP!! That week is open for me - here's some rambling thots - for what they're worth.
Keep in mind that is the peak of our tourist season - it can be tough to get a room in the Flathead valley during August without reservations. Wide variety of accomodations from Hampton Inn to Motel 6 and Super 8 - and lots inbetween.
There are a couple of campgrounds (bathroom/showers) on the outskirts of town. Lots of primitive campgrounds on state land - pit toilets, some have running water, but no hookups. Minimal fees to none.
You could always camp at my place - we're on 5 acres next to state forest land, 12 miles outside town and there are no animals in the pasture at present - and free too! You could camp in the upper pasture and the lower pasture doubles as a rifle range ('bout 140 yds max) and for clay pigeons. All my neighbors shoot so they're pretty forgiving.
There is a water hydrant in each pasture, and if enough of you show up we could even rent a porta-potty from a neighbor. Gas grill and fire pit. If any of you are interested, let me know - anytime.
And there we have it! Thanks mtflat! All it takes is a thought and a prayer and good things can come together! I envision a good time to be had by all, even if for only a couple two or three days. I've got a couple BBQ grills, one briquette and one gas...we could have a group picnic or dinner one evening. A parade of FTE'ers up to the top of Going to the Sun Highway or if you want more primitive, there's Bowman Lake Campground in the North Fork of the Park. Those of you interested ought to start making some plans and let us know as soon as possible, so we can all make this come together. Perhaps make it an annual affair????
Come one come all.... lets get some plans out here and discussed!
And thank you mtflat for your generosity in offering your land for a campsite and shooting gallery!
We are so gonna stay at Tim's palace. This is gonna be so cool.... the weather should be nice and dry, I doubt we'd get to do any shooting, from a fire hazard aspect. Tim probably doesn't want us to burn down his shanty.
I'd love to get in the park, but I'm sure it'll be pretty busy. We have free access now with the new licensing system, so Justin will have to bum a ride in one of our automobiles.
i hope its nicer up there than it is here. the weatherman said it only got to 82 degrees, but the bank up here said 89. its only gonna get hotter though....
Unfortunately glacier Park is a National Park and not covered by our Montana licenses. The fee is still there for a 7 day pass and I think it is like $10. It's still well worth the price once you are standing along the Sun highway, looking out over the beautiful glaciated valleys and other scenic vistas. I'd like to see all the vehicles at the top of the Divide so we could get a group photo with the FTE emblem. Parking in a group....hmmm...in August...well.. we'll cross that "divide" when we get to it. There are lots of other places for great photo ops.... Hungry Horse Dam, anywhere in the park or along the Flathead River.
As for shooting... I'm sure we can work something out on that also. Guess I better get my new 10-22 configured better so I can whup y'alls!!
