Next Meeting...

Hey, since the 28th-29th was such a great success, I was think we should have another get-together. This time maybe have more than the 0 people last time.
Well I was thinking of having it here in Billings, unless someone has a better place. Theres a NHRA August 20-22 here out at the speedway. Maybe that would be a cool thing to go to. I think that would be a huge event to go to, try to have everyone go to it.

If you guys would like to have a smaller meeting maybe in April or May, that wouldn't be too bad, get a few people to know each other.

Well Im not sure what else to say, lets see what everyone has to say.

Anytime between Aug. 15 and 22 works well for me if I gotta travel. I'd like to make it up there to meet some of you guys, and Billings does sound good. Neither the wife nor I have even been to Montana yet, sounds like a good excuse to me!

Hard for me to make it to any other places except for when I'm on vacation, I work 6 days a week.

The World of Outlaws will be here on the 20-21 of August, tickets are $35 a night per person. I'm not to big on sprint cars, but I'm willing to check it out, BMP isn't a great facility though, it has bad seating and non existant parking. IMSP is a bit further out, and I believe admission is $15 after 4 PM, the day of the race, thats what it was last year.

Thats also the week the the Mighty Thomas Carnival will be in town, its a pretty big show, and there are a lot of people there.

It will not be possible to get a room in the city that weekend.

I will try to arrange something, we have room here and at my dads house, although not much.

Other options include a camping trip to the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness ($10 per person/per day for food), a fly fishing float trip on the Big Hole River ($75 plus nonresident/resident fishing license), the Great American Hill Climb, the last week in July here in Billings, $20 per day admission, that leaves us open to go shooting or fishing here on the Yellowstone. If someone has a boat, we can get on the Tongue River Reservoir early June, late May is the best time to go Crappie fishing. Burn the Point car show, in early august, $40 a night for that.

Thats all I can think of for now.

wow... that's a lot to ponder so far in advance!

Sounds like stuff to do won't be a problem... the problem will be choosing from the many things available!

`bump`

did anyone else notice this new character requirement for messages, they gotta be at least 10 characters long...

Are we able to bring a friend? As of now, I'm good to go from the 2nd week in August and on.

Matts72 03-29-2004 06:38 PM

Yep friends can come.

88grandmarquis 04-23-2004 02:03 PM

Just thought I'd check to see if anyone had wanted to plan a meet yet. I'd be up for the August 20-22 weekend. I've got a friend that would really wanna see the outlaws. I'm an anything goes sort of guy, so whatever there is to do will be fine.

Matts72 04-23-2004 07:38 PM

sounds good to me...

88grandmarquis 04-25-2004 09:31 PM

Not to press the upcoming event situation, but I was just wondering if anyone else was going to shoot for the August 20-22 date. Reason I say this is because I might have to know before June 1st so I can transfer vacation time to those dates. I don't care to go on a long trip then have to go to work early the next day (need a good day to rest my lazy self).

Another concern is the accomidations. As Matt said earlier, there isn't much of a chance of getting a hotel. So, I don't know how that's gonna go over. Weather permitting I can just doze in the back of the truck . . . that is, if I come alone.

Just wondering. I'm looking forward to meeting you guys.

Matts72 04-25-2004 11:24 PM

there will be room here...

Montana is a humongous state. I seriously doubt that I will be able to attend many meetings, especially in the Billings area. Man... thats almost a whole state away from Kalispell. Now if you guys want to come up and meet in Kalispell this summer, I'll even take ya on a grand tour of Glacier National Park. I think a meeting at the top of the Continental Divide on the "Going to The Sun Highway" would be FANTASTIC!!! Not only that, but would be very memorable to those of you who have never driven up the side of a mountain on a narrow windy road. For those of you who have never even seen Glacier Park, go to www.nps.gov/glac , then click on the "IN DEPTH" button and go to the photos link. You can see videos of plowing the Sun road plus some other great photos. Then you can set a date for coming to meet me and visiting the beautiful Flathead Valley. :-wink

88grandmarquis 04-27-2004 04:19 PM

Matt, that's very kind of you. I may have to take you up on that.

Fordlover, it looks absolutely beautiful out there. I'm afraid I wouldn't want to go back home. I'm looking at my maps and trying to figure a "quick" route there, but that's a heck of a drive from Bismarck. I'd love to get out your way, maybe if the money situation is good this fall.

88grandmarquis 04-30-2004 09:37 PM

Here's what I'd like to have happen from my end: August 14 - 22. I could take the 16th - 20th off. Roll out to Billings early Saturday (14th). Have a gathering of whoever could make it. Sunday (15th), have anyone who wanted too, head up to Kalispell for a few days. On Thursday (19th), head back to Billings. Take in the Outlaws. Head home to Bismarck on Saturday or Sunday.

I really want to get out into the mountains. I'd have to see if my friend could get that week off and come with. I figure it would be safer and more fun with someone along.

Let me know what you guys think. As I said earlier, I have to have an idea a fair amount ahead of time. I'm thinking that whether we have a big meet or not, I will still head out your guys' way on that week. Looking forward to meeting you guys.
