I think the roller timing chain is a gimme. The Edlebrock was like $60. If you've got it apart and are considering high revving upgrades, the the new timing chain/gears is an easy decision.
As for the roller rockers. That really depends on where you're going with the cam. I went with the Erson complete assemblies. They are around $700 preset for the Edelbrock heads. But, if you get stands and shafts and adjustable rockers, you may spend that much anyway. Of course, for me this is where things got even more expensive. The "Might as well" mind set took over. I figured if I had rollers up top , why not at the bottom, so I went with the hyd. roller setup from crane. When all said and done, the valve train cost me another $1800. Yikes.
You're at the point where it get's even more expensive to pick up more HP.
Can somebody refresh me on the specs for the 941? The question is should he go with the roller rockers. Isn't the 941 a hydraulic flat tappet? If it is, then there would certainly be no harm in going with the rollers, but there might not be much gain. However, if he decides to go with a bigger cam later (like Gtex is gonna do, he he), then he might be as well of to do something like the ersons now, that way his valve train is up to par for anything he throws at it.
The reason I say this is that I initially bought a set of used Harland Sharp rollers and aluminum stands and endstands with HD shafts, then went farther with the cam than I anticipated and ended up buying the Ersons anyway. So now I have a full valvetrain setup that I won't be using. Dollars down the toilet.
Sometimes its better to spend a little more now, than spend it twice.
I think I would probably save my pesos and get a roller setup just because the exhaust lift is getting up there a little.
I'm sure the stock setup would handle it if your RPM is not getting too crazy, but a roller setup with endstands or Ersons might make you sleep easier.
Like I said, I'm sure the stock setup will handle it if your RPMs are not out of sight.
My point was only that you are approaching a "gray area" that would support arguments both ways. If you can afford them, do it. If not, don't. With the combo you have you will likely surpass your HP goals with ease.
