Running strong...
I have been reading posts on this site for about two months now and I thought I would share my GOOD experiencies with my 6.0 psd. I bought the truck Sept. 1st, 2003.
Engine build date - 2-21-03 (Friday no less!!)
First oil change - 4700 miles. NO Flash and no problems at all. Hand calculated milage was 18 - 20 mpg for this period.
Second oil change - 9814 miles. Fuel in oil and #8 injector bad. Both replaced and also injector o-rings on left side of engine. Since this service occured in late Jan., I'm not sure what flash I received. The only difference I noticed was that the tranny won't lock up in tow/haul until speed is below 50 mph or so.
Currently have 14,580 miles on truck and it is running excellent. I'm still around that 12-15 mpg area but since I live in balmy Minnesota, that is to be expected. (I let the truck run alot)
Next oil change coming soon and I'm interested to see if anything is wrong.

I think that Ford is working on these problems and that we need to as patient as we can be. I think it doesn't help at all when you go into the service dept. and scream and yell. But after reading some of the horror stories on this site, yelling maybe your only satisfaction.
Glad to hear about more Happy Owners. My truck has no problems either. I was scared to death to trade my 7.3 after reading all the posts. I am glad I waited but really glad I bought one. I looked at used 7.3 for about 6 months but couldnt find one with less miles than my 95. Wish more happy owners would post here. Seems like no one ever talks about the good ones. I am sure lots of people have read here and bought a chevy or dodge. I would rather have a powerstroke with a few problems than either one of the others.
Happy motoring. Keep on Strokin!

Do you consider having fuel in the oil and failed injector, at such low mileage good, I think that is terrible , and the mpgs is not to good either. I like my truck also but it is not near the truck or engine the 7.3 is. most of the posistive comments are about how fast the trucks are, and that is not what most people who buy super duty trucks for work, and dependablity, pulling power. My 7.3 with the mods I had to engine and trans, would pull just as fast and just as heavy load with much better fuel mpg and more dependablity. 4 years pulling 12k 5 days a week and never ONE problem not even one trip to shop. just wish I was one of the guys who got a good truck. happy for those who did , but I can tell you this the word is out on the problems with the 6.0. I have a friend who is sales manager at the biggest ford store where I live and he says there super duty sales are the lowest ever, and they have had more complaints from repeat diesel buyers then ever before. they have 60 psd in stock and cant sell them even with rebates. and it is a shame that ford is losing there market share because of a lack of concern for there customers.
I think I will hold on to my 2000 F350 7.3 power stroke for a long while I am not that impressed with The 6.0 I have had my 2000 since new and only had one minor problem the bolts on the back of the turbo worked out. 2 hours later fixed and no problems since how ever it did smoke a lot when you start the truck I fixed that too I put the additive 911 in it the truck does not smoke 1/2 as bad I am also getting 20 mpg. This is the best truck so far that I have ever bought. Good luck guys ps I do not think Ford tested these 6.0 long anuff before putting them out to market.
I agree they should have tested them more. And any problems is bad for sure. I think they tried to hard to put out new technology first. I just hope they make it right by all the people with the bad trucks. I will say that Ford will be standing behind it better than GM or Chrysler would if they had the same problems. Keep calling Ford. All the manufacturers are forced to make these changes Ford just did it sooner, maybe to soon. Only time will tell. I feel your pain I bought a Lincoln Mark 8 the first year and it was the first and only bad Ford I have ever owned so far. They bought it back.
Ford is not going to let go of the market share without kicking and screaming (I Hope)
I have been trying to get some inside info from my friends at Ford its been about 5 years since I been gone. If I hear anything I will let Ya'll know.

I fear they already lost the market share, the word on the streets is not good about the 6.0, just look at the dealerships they are full of them. one other way to tell is how many 7.3 do you see in used lots, not to many. the thing that is hard to understand is how there can be, good ones and bad ones with no clear reason why and in so many cases, ford is not able to get the trucks fixed.

I am afraid you are right. They are losing it fast. There are a lot of used 7.3 around here. I considered buying a newer truck. My 95 only had 98,000 miles on it. Every newer one I looked at had 130,000 or more miles. I got new truck fever I guess. My old truck ran perfect. That is the real reason I bought the 6.0. I have been lucky so far. And I keep my fingers crossed still.
I feel sure they will fix these issues but not sure if they will recover from it. Unfortunately only time will tell. I know its tough when you are having problems.
Hope they get a handle on it soon.Good luck.

I have heard that Ford has most of the bugs worked out of the 6.0 . Let,s hope it is true. Next year I might want one and I do not want a bag of head achs with it. I might want to go with a crewcab. That is what I am dreaming of now. The test of time is going to prevale on this one. I do have a friend who has a 03 F350 crewcab 6.0 60,000 mile on the truck and no problem.
The bugs are still, there still having wiring problems, injector failure, poor fuel mpg, moan droan noise, rear main seal, starting problems, glow plug failure. these are problems being seen on 04/04 trucks and ford has been slow to figure it out. was at the IH dealer yesterday and talked to them about engine they rarley have problem with there version of the 6.0, they said ford is trying to get to much power out of it and, they feel it will result in early engine failures. and if you add the power chips it could shorten the life of engine even more, If they ever get mine right I will not be boosting my power, not willing to take the chance, they also said if you install chip or program it leaves a trail on computer and ford will see it .
