Took it in today for a bit of shudder when first moving out of park. They flashed it, now the problemis gone. Shift points seem to be a touch differernt and it's even more lively from a dead stop. Also noticed that the tow/haul feature doesn't downshift before 50 mph.

Oh, I was current upto the Dec flash and PI was still working, now it's not. I'm guessing the PI was the cause of the momentary shudder I was experiencing backing up.

Couldn't be happier with the truck. I like it much over my 2000 F250 SD 7.3 powerstroke.

You have got it right , if its not broke dont fix it, keep that 7.3 and enjoy the dependablity and good fuel mpg. I wish I would have kept mine perfect truck, just got the bug for new truck, what a dummie I was. dont let anyone tell you the 6.0 is better then 7.3 if you need a little extra power get banks upgrade and you will be happy.

The bugs are still, there still having wiring problems, injector failure, poor fuel mpg, moan droan noise, rear main seal, starting problems, glow plug failure. these are problems being seen on 04/04 trucks and ford has been slow to figure it out. was at the IH dealer yesterday and talked to them about engine they rarley have problem with there version of the 6.0, they said ford is trying to get to much power out of it and, they feel it will result in early engine failures. and if you add the power chips it could shorten the life of engine even more, If they ever get mine right I will not be boosting my power, not willing to take the chance, they also said if you install chip or program it leaves a trail on computer and ford will see it .
I spoke to a Ford engineer with the Powerstroke demo trailer. He said they could double the horsepower of the 6.0 for use in the 550. I don't think we are getting too much out of the 6.0 now. If they warranty it to 100K, I'll drive it like I stole it until then.

Would expect anything else from the ford eng. you know they said the same thing about the 7.3. Who do you think knows more about the engine ford who cant even figure out what is going on with the computer problems or the international people who designed the engine. the IH people have very little problems out of there version and ford is having problems out the ying yang. As far as the 550 they have the same rating just regeared is what I was told when I priced 550 dump truck. I would not be concerned about it if mine was a toy but even with the warranty you still lose the use of your truck. and I WILL BET IT WONT BE LONG BEFORE YOU HEAR FORD TUNING DOWN WARRANTY CLAIMS ON THE TRUCKS WITH CHIPS AND POWER PROGRAMS. I hope I am wrong but that is my feeling, from what is being posted it is just a mater of time before someone melts a turbo and alot of these trucks are not using guages or exhaust, and running at highest setting.

Although I only have about 700 miles on my truck no problems other than the slight moan droan of the engine. Maybe Ford did get on the band wagon to soon. Let's give em a chance. This is by far the best overall quality of any new Ford vehicle I have owned. keep up the good work.

not to be ugly but they have had, plenty of chances getting the bugs worked out and they have droped the ball. the end result is going to be lost sales for ford.

tn mac,

I had a conversation with the Service Manager at the Ford dealer where I get my truck serviced. I asked why, since the dealer sells performance chips, how can they void the warranty? He responded with that the dealer doesn't void the warranty. If you have a catastrophic engine failure, Ford would send out a tech. Ford would deny the claim to fix or replace the engine. ($12,000 for a crated engine) if it was shown that you were using a chip, and they can. He went on to say that if you bought a chip and put it on the intermediate setting and used it for a little better performance and better mileage, you probably wouldn't have an engine problem. If you go out and drag race at the highest setting, you probably will.

That is exactly what I was told, the problem is they can tell you were using the chip, or programer but they cant tell what setting you were using. So if you engine failure and you are using chip they will void your warranty. and all these guys with the chips and power programers will be crying when there trucks blow up. The other thing I hear people saying is disconnect the batteries, but that doesnt wipe out the trail. I would probally add chip for better mpg if I thought it wouldnt effect my warranty, but not taking the chance. besides I dont need any more power just better mpg and other minor problems fixed and I am a happy camper.
