Im kinda looking to do a new setup for my truck. Im really starting to get annoyed with the ride quality. I was thinking
about doing a 4.5 edge hanger kit with 4" springs. I was
wondering if this is worth the money ? Will it ride much better?
Also I will keep my back spring. So i dont know if that will mess up the ride if i did that setup in the front, because the back spring will still be stiff. Also will I be getting more than 8.5 inchs of lift? I heard people say edge springs give more lift than advertised. Am i looking at 9" of lift more of less? Anyways looking for some comments on this setup. Maybe hearing from donahoe on how much lift he thinks i would get. I have a v10 btw.
I know Overkill runs the 4" springs with 4.5" hangers and shackles on his F-250.
What does your truck measure now from the top of the axle tube (next to the spring perch) to the bottom of the frame rail (by the bumpstop) on the passenger side of the front end??
I'll probably get flushed outta here for saying this, but I'll take the risk. Are we to assume that everybody in the SuperDuty forum has 4 wheel drive? We (speaking for the lowly 2-wheelers) always have to read through the posts to figure out if you're talking about 4wd or 2wd. It would help if you identified your drive in the topic line. Thanks, I feel better now.
Thanks, Yeti, I knew you'd understand....I think...
Saw the posts last night with the guys talkin' about your girlfriend....man...they're brutal! You gonna let 'em get away with that?
Probably more a local thing, but SoCal and AZ have far more lifted 2-wheelers than 4-wheelers. OK, with the exception of SD's. But there are an awful lot of lifted 2-wheel SD's around here.
Uptown, you can take my word for it now.. or deny the fact that i was right later.. but if your running the superlift 10 leaf pack.. then you aint going to notice much improvement/differance with any other spring... they dont get much better.. EDGE is the only kits that offer 12leaf packs.. but it have read two peoples opinions that had superlift springs and Edge springs that they liked the superlift better... i have also heard from all the others they like edge better.. beside the point.. the point is the ride is SIMILAR.. no matter what they say.. your not going to notice a $2500 dollar(or whatever an EDGE kit is) improvement by swapping kits.. ask anyone i think Edge is the best kits sold.. i have superlift front springs and Atlas rears.. i have tried a couple combos and like this best.. im just trying to save ya hella mula cause your going to be dissappointed cause for that kind of cash you aint going to see the "night and day differance" you might of read about... Like i said ive heard of two honest dudes that tell there story and actually thought the superlift selects ride better than edge...I personally have not Ran both brand springs on my same truck.. but these guys have.... Ill stick with my opinion of edge being the best kit out there.. but you got the second best kit(if you got selects).. any your not going to notice a big differance in ride.. but you will in your wallet.
good luck.. keep us posted.. you may be the third guy i know who likes superlifts better than Edge?
Couple other things i thought about.. First off i was thinking the only two guys i know that have run Superlifts and EDGE have liked the superlifts better: think about this.. they only switched caused they heard from everyone the DEaver springs were soo superior.. so they did and were disappointed.. in one case the person switched back to superlift and sold the deavers Anyway.. everyone that already has edge has no reason to try superlifts on ther truck.. they may or MAY NOT have ever ridin in a super lift select equiped truck.. but it certainly wasnt there own.. with the same shocks and tires: my point was there two cases were probably the best/ most accurate test comparision.. these guys had no reason to sway either way.. they had already spent the cash....
all that aside:
Now that i re-read your first post.. i think if you went to a large hangar and 4" spring you may feel somewhat smoother ride from that change.. but youd be spending over $1000.. i doubt it will be that good?....but if it is better realize thats where its mostly coming from.... if you do buy 4" springs id definatly buy Deavers cause there Made in USA.. as superlifts are made in India....so ride qualities aside.. lets keep in at home if we can!
good luck, keep us posted.

The guy you say ran the 6" Deavers and Superlifts, and switched back to Superlifts..........would that be SnoPro?? If so, he's now running 8" Deavers....
In an email he stated that to him the ride with both on his truck with the 5100s was similar but that the Deavers offered more articulation off road.
Uptown,
What shocks are you running??
If it's till the Superlift shocks I'd recommend switching out to Bilsteins. With a 8" lift if you want to get the SD specific valving and digressive piston right now you'd have to go to the 7100s since the 5100s are still generically valved....although the 5100s will ride better than the superlifts.
In a couple months we might see 5100s for a 8" lift that do come with the SD specific valving and digressive piston as well.
There are also the 5150s, generic in all lengths but have an optional valving to be run as duals.
If you switch out shocks and still aren't happy then I'd recommend switching out springs.....
Hope this helps.
Didn't. I was tipped off that it was 4wd when you mentioned "4.5 edge hanger kit". My point was, there is nothing other than the Edge comment that this was about 4WD. Go back and read your topic line and 1st post. Would just save others a little time if you mentioned 4WD in the topic.
