Spark plug wire problems

Having a slight to major miss on my 302. Its worse as the engine has to work harder especially at low rpms. My local mechanic said that I need new wire because of my headers. The heat created by my headers is what is causing the miss. Have the same wires before headers.

Is this possible? I the wires are not even a year old. I looked at them and they don't seem to be melted and shorting out.

Has anyone had any similar problems like this?

If this is the case...I looking at getting some Accel Super Tune-Up Wires that are supposed to have heat reflected coated boots that are resistant to 1200 degrees. Anyone use the product or a similar one?

Open the hood on a dark and stormy night. No wait just dark, see if you can spy any of that eletricity runnin around where irt aint supose 2 b.
Compression ?
Pull the wires one at a time to find the one that does not change the idle and walla.

If I remember correctly, the firing order has #7 and #8 cylinders in sequence. These cylinders also are located next to each other. So naturally you would run the wires next to each other in the holders. Try to avoid this by running the 7 and 8 wires as far apart as you can in the looms, and see if the problem goes away.

The thing is it dosent ground at until the engine is under load... i.e. shifting, going up steep hills and such. I'm planning to get some high temp wires and some of boot protectors. Thats what the guy at the parts house said I should do.

Franklin what side is the #7 & 8# cylinders and there location?

As far as I know the timing and distributor are working fine. Dosent get too dark around here since there is still snow on the ground, I'll see if I can pull her in the shop.

I'll look at that tomorrow, I'm pretty sure that they are right next to each other in the looms.

I have seen an intake leak cause these kind of problems.
With the engine warm (not hot)spray some "WD" or such
on the intake at the head/intake junction. Be careful not to start a fire or have the snoe ready to put it out.
Anyway if you have a leak the idle will "change "when you spray stuff on the leak.

A miss under load is a classic sympton of ignition weakness. Especially plug wires as they break down when the plugs get harder to fire. It could of course be the module or plugs. You can measure the resistance of the wires but I find this not to be a reliable way to test them.
