Recently bought AFE with the proguard filter for
my 03 f350 7.3 Much to my dismay when opening the box it was one of those filters you oil and clen dont like them Will the napa donaldson filter that cookie and others i see runnin fit it the afe box and over the inlet if it does i think ill go that route unless some one can talk me out of it
Ive heard good and bad things about a oil and clean Im not really convinced by looking at it please convince me by the way nice pictures been lookin at all of them nice truck!!!
Anymore I try to stay out of the filter discussions as much as I can, or to at least stay neutral in them, so I'm not sure I can be too convincing.
But anyways.....
I never had a problem sealing my stock air box with the stock filter. Never any signs of anything getting past it.
I never had a problem sealing my stock airbox with a K&N panel filter. Never any signs of anything getting past it.
I never had a problem sealing the Tymar filter. Obviously, nothing gets past it.
So far I have not had a problem with the big oiler, nor has there been any evidence to suggest anything has gotten past it.
I drive on nasty old Arkansas roads, a fair amount of dirt/gravel roads, and I get it muddy from time to time. Not one of them has conclusively filtered any better than any other. The bottom line is I get the lowest EGT's with the big conical oiler, and that's good enough for me.
