I found the Excursion for me The axle code was not on the sticker but the salesman crawled underneath and said that the rear end had 4.30 on it. Does this make sense? I got the vin and called a dealer to find out which rear end and they said that their system does not go back to 2000. The Excursion is 350 miles away or I would look myself. I would like to know which rear end it has before I drive that distance to look at it. Any suggestions?

You can have them give you the axle code from the tag by the drivers side B pillar, with that code you can come back to this sight and find what axle it is. There are many postings of what code is what. The tag is down low between the front and rear door on the driver side, in case I wasn't clear enough.
If it is a reputable dealer he is probably correct. If it is a 4.30 you have found yourself a great axle for the X.
