starter turns over when key is off

starter turns over when key is off

Any sugestions why my ford's started keeps trying to start when the key is off (the lights are off even, so i doubt its the ignition switch)

I'll guess '83 or '84 model? It sounds like the ignition switch - believe it or not.

its an 85 f150. and no it would not be the ingnition switch, i swaped stearing colums today and it did not happen in the other truck... could it be the solinoid? then again, i may have the wrong impresion what the inginition switch is.....

My 82 did that and I had to get a new starter.

it could be either one. but the solenoid is cheaper id try that first

Just had the same problem... it was the soleniod. A $20 fix and a do-it-your-self rplacement. I would start my truck and the soleniod would stay engaged... I would have to give it a whack with my fist to shut it off. Replaced it and everything is fine.
