I have been looking into getting an electric fuel pump for my buildup but I have no idea how bif of one I need. I have been posting asking other questions about my buildup. I am getting an edelbrock performer intake with a 600 or 650 cfm edelbrock carb and running gt40p heads with a mild 4x4 cam from comp. Is there a certain pressure or gph that I should be looking for? Im new to this. Is there a simple rule of thumb I dont know about? Thanks.
you would be safe using an 88gph pump and around 10psi fuel pressure. Youre going to want to make sure the pump is return style (in a loop)...it pumps excess fuel back to the tank.
Another question... Can I use the gas tank from my efi system? It has a return and a sending line. I dont see why I cant clamp hoses onto those. Thanks for the info by the way. Also, with that electric pump do I have to use any special kind of line? Or just reg ol fuel line?
The edelbrock carb is rated for 6psi, so you may have some trouble shooting 10psi through it. Look in the summit catalog, the carter would work, you would only need the street pump. Later

I said about 10psi because I was going to do this with a carb on my mustang, using the electric pump. Anyways people said 5-9psi depending on your mods. Was only a ballpark I knew someone would have more accurate info.
Ryan, the stock efi tank is exactly what you want. The electric fuel pump is set up to pump in a loop. If you were delievering all that fuel straight to the carb you would have to regulate it down a good 30psi. The return line allows you to do that without burning out your pump.
Yeah the pump deliver fuel as needed, instead of constantly. Not all work this way, some do require a fuel return line. No big deal, as Pud mentioned you already have the return lines. So it all depends on which pump you use.
There have been some people that use an adjustable fuel pressure regulator on their stock efi pump, I wouldn't do it, but its an option. Good luck
