C6 shifting
I have just finished installing a C6 in my 66 F-100. The tranny was rebuilt by a professional tranny shop and I installed it. It sat on the shelf for about 6 months between the rebuild and installation. The problem...in drive, it starts out in second gear and after rolling about 20 ft, it downshifts to 1st and away you go. Has anybody ran into this????

I can't say for certain if this is your problem but my truck did the same thing after I did some t-case work. I crawled under it and found that the vaccuum hose on the modulator (?) had come loose. I reattached the hose and it worked perfect. Check ALL of your vaccuum lines if you're having trouble with the tranny shifting.
