The power to the ignition switch is on a large yellow wire.....the other end connects to the starter relay-battery + terminal. There is a fusible link there, at the end of the yellow wire......maybe it is burnt out.......corroded terminal......does anything work on the truck....headlights, brakelights??????
Well it could be the fusible link....since the headlights work the battery is suppling power and the ground is good...........or it could be the ignition switch itself.
........wait a sec doesnt the 87 model have the switch on the steering cloumn with the key activating it by pushing a rod against it....if so these break sometimes and turning the switch doesnt actuate the switch anymore because the rod is broken.........it has been discussed here recently with "how to" repair instructions included.
