Please help! I just changed my spark plugs in my 97 2.3l ford ranger not because of trouble but because of mileage.I am no mechanic but a simple plug change I figured i could handle. The problem is now she does not seem to be running right , like shes missing. I checked and its not a faulty plug theres definitely fire on all plugs, wires are hooked up right. when i bought the plugs I noticed the tread depth on the new plugs was a 1/4 inch longer than the old ones and the dealer assured me the plugs had changed and these were definitely the right ones. Anyone out there with some advice.THANKS
Did you change the plug wires also? If not there is always the possibility that you damaged the plug wires when you pulled them
off the plugs. The second thing to look for is vacuum hoses that may have been knocked loose. Has it thrown a CEL? If so, get the codes scanned, and this may help tell you what is broke.
thanks for the replies first of all the plugs looked in bad shape the plug wires i dont think are damaged because there is lots of spark on the plugs i checked after and was carefull putting them back. one more question what does cel stand for and how can this be related to my troubles?
