transfer cases
What is the main physical difference between an NP 205 and NP203. I know that the 205 is a lot more heavy duty and gear driven and the 203 is chain driven. I was wondering if the 205 had any thing in particular to tell its a 205 case. Thanks

the 205 looks like a big peanut. the 203 looks like two transfer cases stuck together (about as heavy also) with about a ten inch in diameter aluminum housing sticking out the back. the low reduction part of the 203 is still gear driven so when you put it in lo-lock it's all gear. the chains do wear out but they're still a pretty tough unit. it's real simple and cheap to put a part time kit in them also. i've done it twice already with good results.
