Guess it depends....my 72 F100 is a daily driver - it is nice...but still a working truck. I am going to have mine Rhino lined. If it were a frame off restoration etc. I would paint the bed. Just my opinion...
I painted mine. I didn't think it would make any sense to rhino line a nice straight and solid bed. I always do a double take on a nicely painted bed as they just look better.
Rhino line is the easy way out as it hides big scratches, scuffs and dents, not to mention repairs. I have a spray on liner on my Ranchero.
I also figure that a late model truck can haul rocks and gravel which is really what a liner is for. I use mine for hauling boxes and engines and stuff. A bed mat works good for that!
I'll put my vote in for the spray on bedliner, whatever brand you like best. I have Rhino in the F350 and like it alot. When I got a new tailgate, I didnt reline it and painted it instead. In short time, the paint got all scratched and looked bad, so I ended up using a do-it-yourself brush-on liner and so far it's doing alright, alot better than the paint did.
When my friend got his truck repainted, he had the inside of the bed painted too. It didn't take long for him to scratch it all up.
The factory paint seems to be tougher and adheres better than any other-than-stock paintjobs. Part of it is probably the baking process that hardens the paint.
ya I would recommend the spray in for anything unless your truck is strictly a show truck. I had mine painted and right now the paint is almost 100 percent gone and that metal w/ rust as soon as it's exposed.
My vote goes for a spray in liner too. I have had Line-X done before and was very pleased with the protection it provided, along with the anti-skid properties it has.
