Hope you like my idea of a box, nothing fancy, just different. Thought it would go good with the truck. A couple base coats of black and flames, then some clear, not to bad for a rookie.
How I did it is like what any body shop would do and you can too.
#1. Prep it. ( get it smooth and seal it well of course)
#2. 3 coats of black auto paint ( code 53 mid-night)
#3. tape of flames, *NOTE*, since the paint is not on metel, take the tape across your jeans first to get some of the sticky off, easier to remove and not take the black base.
#4. I used a fire-engine red (not orange) and 3 coats with this.
#5. (this is only if you dont have a airbrush, whick I didn't) I took the air pressure down on the spay gun, tested a couple spots on the back on the block off tape. Get it just to trickel out, like spraying in one spot for about 4 seconds to finally notice the color.
#6. Paint the tips and outlines to where you want it. Pull the gun back in the crevest and let it fog just a bit for the red to orange look and let dry.
#7. Peel off the tape and clear coat, 3 coats and wha-la!!!!!
That looks great considering you didn't use an airbrush to do the flames, I have an airbrush and after seeing this I may just have to bring it back out and see what I can do!
Great job and thanks for the instructions and pics!
