i have a 94 5.8 lit bronco and over the last year i have been having some problems with the transmission. i bought it from a guy a couple years back and he pulled a bout with it and now if i go 80+ on the highway and slow back down it begins to shift really hard. the fluid level is correct everytime i check it, and it usually goes away in a few days or in about a week or so. do i need to have it rebuilt? thanks for the help

what might be happening is the computer senses slipping in the torque converter, therefore the transmission goes into a "limp" mode, it will shift hard for a while, then it might go back to normal, and once it senses slippage again, it will reluctantly return to the limp mode, chances are you will need a rebuild soon, sorry for the dissappointing news.
beefing up a transmission may include, larger valve body ports, larger transmission pump, more/stronger clutches, shift kit, and many updates that were faulty from the factory. This may cost a little bit more but most people are satisfied with their NEW transmission. If you choose to have it rebuilt ask them what a regular transmission overhaul includes.
