I hope I don't get into trouble for posting this here but my brother and I just bought new trucks. Mine a f350 CC LB DRW and his a F250 CC SB SRW Both V10's any way at 80 mph his tach reads 2300 mine at 80 reads close to 2900 I have the 4:30 limited slip he has the 3:73's anyway my truck is new and if anyone wants to trade their 3:73's that are new for my 4:30's let me know my ad is posted in the classifieds Thanks
Keep the 4:30's and get a bigger tire like maybe 305's, this tire size increase will move you closer to the 3:83's. A lot of people have done this already and that is what I intend to do when my new truck arrives any day now. Good luck.
Also keep in mind that your brother has 265 tires and your dually prolly has 215 or 225's which are smaller. You could go to a 235x75x85 which are about the same diameter as the 265's.
Yep, a taller tire will change the overall ratio. Have your dealer reprogram the speedo after the tire change. One drawback to taller tires it lowers the towing capacity of the truck.
I think I remember seeing on Horsepower TV or a similar show that every 1" in tire size change, is about .1 in overall gear ratio change.
Ex: If you went from a 33" tire to a 35" tire with 4.30 gears...it would lower your overall ratio to 4.10....or something like that?????????????????
