i am building a 71 429 dove c heads crane cam 522 / 530 lift . new lifters stock rockers , stock push rods. new springs etc... problem is i assembled everything and have about 3/16 gap between rocker and valve tip with nuts tightend down. do i use longer push rods ? and why did this happen ? every thing is back the way it came out ?. next rocker arms touch on side of retainers they are crane retainers and they dish down , the stock ones dished up , i was told to grind a off the railes on rockers to provide clearance , what is your opinion ? next were do i put timing gear it has 3 slots -4 , 0, +4 if it is to be 0 what does +4 do ?
You kinda have a mess going on now, as I'm sure your aware of.
You need to buy/make an adjustable pushrod to determine the correct length pushrod you need. Since your not using a stock cam the stock pushrods and rockers ain't going to work to well.
You might want to goahead and get some roller rockers too.
set at 0 degrees. the + and - indicate how much advance or retard the cam will be set at. You want it set straight up at 0
