Nerf Bars
I am considering stainless nerf bars for my '04. I would like to have the Ford bars, but I know they are pricey. There are a bunch of knock-offs on ebay for about half price. I usually abide by the "you get what you pay for" philosophy, but just wondering if anyone has had any experience with any of the different brands. I could do without the Ford oval on them to save $200-$300. Thanks!

I just got mine. (truckaccessoryusa.net) Lowest price I could find and they are great. Go through the nerf bar sale link, not the 2004 F-150 link, as the latter is a cheaper have-to-drill set. Order the ext. cab version for your truck unless you have a long bed. If you have the long bed, e-mail them about getting a special made set. Good Luck. Also, the bug sheild is a good price (I ordered it, too).

Mine were put on at the factory. I opted for the black platform boards. They do not show a gap between the bar and rocker panel. My saleman had a friend that had round ones. His foot slipped through the gap and he broke his leg. Probalbly a freak accident.
Whatever you decide, order them as a factory option, and not as a dealer option. The platforms were about $250.00 installed at the factory. The dealer priced out $500.00 if I waited and had him order and install them.

Hey Supercrew, I think I might have asked to see his "friend's" leg before I bought that story.
Coming from a salesman you have to wonder!! Thanks for the replys everyone, as always. I think I will find some less expensive bars, rather than pay $500 at the dealer. Thanks again, I love this site!

It may or may not have happened, but I could visualize it. I have a 5year old, it'd kill me to see anything like that happen.
I know he is a saleman, but he sold me two cars in the last seven years, and my family two vehicles. The honest ones are hard to find,but he's been there a long time.
