Ok here's one for you. I have a 2000 EXT Cab 3.0 manual. I have this problem when taking off in first gear the engine feels like it jerks through 3 stages. If that makes any since. But the thing is, it only does it after I have driven it for about 15 or 20 miles on the highway. I get off and do city driving and that's when I notice it. It only does it when I take off in first.
If I don't drive on the highway It doesn't do it. Or it seems like one when the engine is very hot. I'm not over heating or anything.
Any suggestions?
I notice that is doesn't jump so bad after 20 min or so. I know that the drive train is loud on the ford rangers and that when your driving and you let off the accelerator and then punch it that torque make a clunk sound and the engine jumps. Kind of feels like the tranny and engine going to jump out of the truck. Ford tech said that that is normal. They make and upgrade for 500 buck and it's more quiet.
Well.. took my baby to Ford to find out what the problem was. Seems to have a problem with the front slip yoke and the rear drive shaft. They want $900 to fix it. But low and behold my warranty won't cover it because it ain't broken. Just making noise.
Ford said that It's not going to cause any problmes but maybe in the long run it might. suggested that they lube it up but will start make nosie again. Couldn't guaranty how long. Ford makes a updeated drive shaft that makes less noise but since it's an update it's not covered.
Gotta love that coverage. You'ed think they would do a recall on it.
Oh well
My 2000 ranger does that too. The dealer I bought it used from said that its normal. He said it is the 4wheel drive or something. I think I'm gonna get mine checked out too just to make sure.
