I've got a big problem. Upon buying my 54 f100 I neglected to check the vin number on truck against the title. I believe the title to be correct and everything on the up and up but... I can not find a vin plate on the truck. Might be due to a rebuild and repaint done several years ago buy the original owners son.
While that is not a problem in itself, I have found out that South Carolina has a law in which a truck purchased out of state must be presented at DMV (dept. of Motor Veh.) to check vin on vehicle against the vin on title before a title can be issued.
Correct me if I am wrong...the vin plate on a 54 f100 should be on drivers side door frame of cab? Is there any other place that a corrosponding vin number may have been placed or stamped(chassis frame, ???).
Any places out there where vin plates can be replaced legally???
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
GRL...You just saved my Blue-Oval-Backside.
I never would have looked in the glovebox...I am used to vins being on dash or door frame.
I did notice that the first letter(F) on vin plate was incorrectly listed as a (V) on the title I was given, but thats a different battle.
Thanks again, Ed
