1961 unibody tailgate problems

Hello,what holds the tailgate level when opened on the 1961 unibody f100..mine has a fairly straight gate but the mechanisms that hold it up when open are not there.anyplace i can see a pic of what is missing ?what am i missing?

both of my 62's have two pieces of strap metal about 1" wide and hinged in the middle. They fold into the side very much like a later model F150 when you close the tailgate.

There is a set on ebay right now. They are metal rods. Do a search on Ebay motors for F100.
