I recently installed an AFE intake, 4 in exhaust with 3 in down tube. Since installing exhaust, the transmission shifts different from stock. At full throttle, it hesitates poorly upon shifting. The problem did not occur with just the intake, only with the exhaust. No chip or reprogramming has been done. Any suggestions on how to fix this would be most appreciated. My vehicle is an 1995 F250 PSD.
Is there any possibility that what you're experiencing is actually the sound of the turbo stall? It makes a "whoosh" sound when the tranny shifts, and can give the impression that the tranny is slipping?
no, it's definitely not that. the shifts act like it's slipping.
it only happens at full throttle or when pulling a trailer/ load.
the pressure on the turbo drops before shifting as well. it almost acts like the fluid level may be low or the vacuum line is not connected (but those aren't it, obviously).
