I also have a well, water not really a cost issue.
Happy to pay the water heater part of the bill. I just now got em using hot water. They all wanted to rinse with cold/warm, meaning you had to re rinse to use a dish. That happened twice before I just walked over and dumped all the dishes back into the wash water. No longer and issue.
I bought a dishwasher years ago, probably about 10 years ago, when I was younger and had my apartment. I didn't like to wash dishes. It was a used portable dish washer in good condition that I paid $50 for and it's been going ever since. It doesn't use a lot of water. The dishes are clean! I just load up the dishes. I rarely rinse off a plate before putting it in and they come out spotless. It saves water too! We have a $120 water bill and are conservative with our water. That 10 plus year old dishwasher keeps on going and is probably the best $50 I ever spent.

It is an experiance. Just this morning I got the lecture from my wife. I told her about my comment above, she says it was cute, takes a moment and starts on me......
I give up smoking, caffine, beer, sweets.....all for a baby, and what to you give up, nothing, nothing, nothing....she goes and goes........I just want to say "My Sanity, and peace of mind"
but instead.......I just say how proud I am of her.
