Someone told me that I should disable the Advance Trac when towing. Is this correct? I cannot find anything in the owners manual stating as such. I tow quite a bit over the summer months over long distances, so want to do the right thing.

Don't turn it off. It's a big safety feature, especially when towing. Big wind gusts, ice or dirt on road surface, blown trailer tire, anything that makes the vehicle yaw or roll will be controlled so ti does't throw your trailer so far out of line that it risks turnover.
