When I try to start my truck it will die . it seems to happen when it is damp or raining . I have a k&N air system. If i hold the gas down and keep the rpm at 2000 for about 30 sec then she will idle fine. Any one have any ideas ?
It is a 2000 f250 with a V10 with 50K miles the only mod i have done is the k& n air system. It sounds like the same thing , but i didn't know since mine happens with moisture

When did you install it? Is there a chance you've oiled too heavily? It could be the MAF sensor - it's located downstream from your air filter.
When my truck did this it idled, but not smoothly. I had to replace the EGR.
I suppose you haven't had an SES (Service Engine) light come on? It still acts like the IAC, but I would first check the MAF sensor. It's fairly easy to take out and clean, but you must be careful not to apply too much pressure to that sensing wire - it's as thin as a hair. After you clean it, you may need to remove the positive cable from your battery for about 30 minutes or so and let the PCM (computer) reset.
It was the IAC on my '99. When started up cold it would stumble like crazy at idle. Warmed up it did okay while in park. If in gear sitting at a light it would try to shut off. The part is a pain in the neck to put in (putting in the lower bolt), but it cleared mine up right away. Seems after a while the air valve gets seized up and can't close off the air right. The engine light never came on for me, even though the book says after 50 starts a trouble code is supposed to light it up.
