This morning the airbag warning light on my '99 ranger started blinking. Two blinks, a pause and then seven blinks. Repeats this several times after starting and then stays on constant. Also, the light on the passenger air bag on/off switch is not on. I think this light is supposed to be on when the air bag is turned off.
I really dont want to take this to the dealer, but I dont want an unsafe condition either.
Is the two blinks and then a pause followed by seven blinks a specific code ? Like maybe 27 ? If so what does it mean and is there a way that I could fix it myself ?
I"m having the same problem in my Aerostar. I too would be curious to know what this is. It doesn't happen all the time, but seems to happen frequently on long trips when the car is plenty hot. The Chilton's manuals are useless, they refer you to the dealer to deal with any airbag issues....
