Hey guys i just found some dove haeds for my 77 F250 460. i would like to know what i should do to make them the most effective on my rebuilt 460 with 50,000 miles.
just bolt em on...it will more than likely raise your compression...if your feeling a little cashy port and polish them and you'll have some damn good heads.
You know the pistons and heads were matched. Your pistons may not make a big difference. I have a '71 (Dove) 460 in my '78 F250 and I can race anyone, I love it. Not my daily driver though. A set of cobra valves, full competition headers, flowmasters and full 3" exhaust will make yours sound/run great. It does for me. I don't wash my truck, it has green stuff growing on the hood, total sleeper, scare a lot of people when the light turns green, haha.
You will need the proper pushrods for the DOVE heads. They are a different length, they also use rail type rockers instead of the pedistal mounted ones so you will need theat set-up as well if the heads don't have them with them.
