Just a tip if you have problems with your Ford distributor and water when wheelin. I use a Mustang rubber distributor cover . It covers the distributor cap and wiring and I haven't had a water induced problem since. As far as I know they are available on 87 and newer mustang 302's and fit pretty well any ford V8 with the wide cap (EEC IV?)
Cheers

I've never seen one of those before but that's a great idea. Found one on a mustang site for $20 and I'm sure you can get them for less if you look around. I was playing in the water today and even with a distributor that seals well I was having a little trouble. Think I'll buy one and give it a try.
it means that you should not have water problems because a paved road rarely has deep enough water on it to flood the distr. ie, 4wheeling is stupid?? my old man feels the same why....now anyway...
Yea, that boot is a good deal. An even better way is to silicone your dizzy cap sealed. You then run a small filter from the dizzy vent...allot of guys just seal up the dizzy altogether but this is a bad idea because the vent is very neccesary.
I just replaced my dis cap plugs and wires in the Mighty B2 trail rig. I put a bead of Spark Plug Boot sealant (frm autozone) on the base of the dis cap and then put it on the distributor. Tested it last week in some serious mud at Haspin Acres. No problems at all. I had been having problems with water in the past. I hope the seal lasts though. This could just be a little more protection that some you you might need. Happy Wheeling.
Just don't forget to vent it like I said. Totally sealing it with silicon doesn't let the gasses which build up escape and it has a corrosive effect on everything in your dizzy.
I grew up near Buena Vista, Indiana and graduated from Laurel High.
We now live in Sierra Vista AZ.

My old car has a 5.0 with one on it. I now have a 99, 4.0 ranger. It doesnt have a distributor cap, it has a coil pack (i think thats what it is called). Anyways, last time i went wheeling i had the common misfire when it was wet. so would the boot still help?
I think im going out right now to see if i can make it fit.
Ok im back. I had to make it fit, but its on there. I probably wont be wheeling any time soon (last time cost me a $150 tow bill), but whenever i do ill let you know if it helps any.
Im in Plainfield West of Indy. We really have it good here in IN. Im half way between Haspin acres (900 acres and mile of trails), and the Badlands in Atica (1200 acres). I usually go to Haspin after it rains for the great mud, and the Badlands for the tight wood trails and diverse terain. Send us some warm gulf winds ok! I'll be installing a locker before my next trip, just the first step of my build up. Cheers Tim
