F2 Front Axle ?'s

I don't have a truck yet, but have been looking at 51-52 F1's.
I have come across several F2. Of course most of the aftermarket stuff is for F1, but wondering what the difference is on the front suspension? If I want to drop the front of the F2 by 3-4 inches, can I do that with a F1 drop axle and springs? Or do I have to have someone drop my stock axle?

I appreciate your input.

THe front axles and spindles are the same for F-1 thru F-3 for 48-52. The springs are different, the brakes and backing plates and drums vary in size between the models. If you want to drop the nose, you can swap the axle and use your spindles, etc...

Cooler,

If you are interested in the IFS route, a Volare will drop an F-2 about 3-4 inches. At least, that's about what I'm finding on my 48 F-3...plus you get power steering, disc brakes, stabilizer bar, adjustable torsion bars, smooth ride, and improved handling....

I'm running F-1 springs on my M-3. It will drop the front 2" running F-1 springs instead of F-2.

Hey, I gets my licks in when I can!

I figure I'm doing the guy a favour (I spelled it like that just for you Canadian guys) by letting him know that there are other options out there. You can't blame a guy for tryin'.

Well thank goodness your not a French Canadian!

Thanks for the input. Not sure I'm ready to drop in a sub-frame system yet. And I can't weld worth a ____. So I'll have to do with what I can bolt on, and I'm not that crazy about the Bolt-in subframes I've seen either. I think I'm going 'straight'.

The backing plates on an F2 are an 8 lug configuration, which you may wish to maintain if you want the front and rear to be able to wear matching wheels. Though you may wish to swap the rear axle for something with longer legs. Some of those F2s are 4.86, like my F3.
