This is my first time using this forum. I have a 1966 f100 with a 352. I aquired a 460 with a c6 that I, with some help, will drop in soon. The 460 has emmision set with holley four barrell carb. I would like to possibly know what this engine might have come from or at least narrow down the years. I understand emmission control equipment was introduced in 1973 but was not installed on trucks until 1977 or1978, true? Also, are engine blocks for trucks and cars different colors (blue and grey)? Thanks!!!
i have a 84 f 250 with a 460 and it has just the fedral emissions on it has a EGR valve and a air pump on it that pumps air in the back of the block but thats as far as it gose im not to sure on how long or what C6 trannies are in but i know there in the 80 to 86 trucks which all i really know about so far also i think the car blocks are blue cause the lincons ive seen with them where blue and ever ford truck with a 460 was a gray block includng mine and mines also new so it really is gray hope that helps wish i knew more mine also has a 600 cfm holley vaccum secondaires stock carb on it

There should be a date code and plant number on the outer center edge of the head (C???_)as well as on the block. The block vin would match the car or truck that it was matched to.Also everywhere else like pulleys Hbalancer etc.Should start with either a c or D.. C=60's D=70's.Numbers can be found on the older FE as well.Enjoy
Yes...there also is a number on the intake manifold, exhaust manifold as well as the block and heads. Fo D6te is a 1976 truck motor or part...D6ve is a 76 lincoln motor or part. Sometimes if it is rebuild it will have mixed and match parts from both trucks and lincolns...no difference.
Hey guys, thanks for your replies. They helped out quite a bit. The block is blue so its a car engine, lincoln from the sounds of it. The number on the block is D1VE, on the intake D0VE, and on the heads D2VE. A friend of mine said this is normal so I assume the 460 came out of a early 70's lincoln. Thanks again.
