I noticed that Powertrax is now offering their Lock-Right for the Ford 7.5 differential. Im thinking about ordering one soon since my B2 is being converted to a trail rig, but it still has to drive to the trails, I dont have a trailer yet. Any thoughts, suggestions. I have heard that it is easy to do.
Put one in the back of my Explorer, took all of 20 minuets. I am gunna put one in the Bronco as soon as money allows, at leasta few weeks. Hardest part is the C-clips. Just jack the rear up, take off both tires, and push in the axels. Raelly a easy job.
Im looking forward to the increased traction off road. I may have to upgrade my drive shaft after putting in the locker. I have a local source for that but will wait and see how the finances work out too. Anyone know if this will impact the RABS on the Bronco 2?
I have been thinking about air lockers. Mine is going to be a daily driver and I have heard auto-lockers are horrible... any opinions?
Should I move up to a Dana 35 front end before getting new Warm Hubs? My hubs are still working great but I just wanted to hear what you all thought...
If you are planning on putting a selectable locker in the front you may want to upgrade beyond a Dana 28. I plan on leaving my front open for now, and just locking the back diff. The dana 28 running open is pretty stout considering the weight of the vehichle and the power output of the 2.X's. It really depends on how hard you drive it off road. I tend to be careful, (not a throttle masher), but like to try technical stuff and flex it out a little bit. Plus my tires are just a little bigger than stock, (235x75x15's).
No I'm sorry I am not talking about locking the front just getting new hubs, I plan on air lockers vs. auto lockers on the rear... I have 235x75x15's as well and I am not a throttle masher either... I have heard too many stories of the stock hubs breaking when ya need em...
Given the price difference (you'll spend around $1000 plus labor for an ARB with a compressor, versus $240 or so for a LockRight that you can install yourself) I'd at least give the automatic locker a try before moving on to the ARB. By most accounts, they just require some adjustment in driving style to get used to. As long as you're off the throttle, it's unlocked so it's easy to live with.
Well since my B2 is going to become a trail rig not what I have my F150, I think that is the way I'll go. Fastpkr, have you seen Lock-right's for the 7.5 rear for $250. I havn't found any that cheep yet. Thanks for the help.
Ive been looking into lockers for a while now and in the line or rear lockers all they make for the 7.5 is a few limited slip but only clutch style and no air, electric or pull kind i wanted something i can turn on from in the cab but no one makes anything for it. in the front all they have is strait lockers so we are very limited in the line of lockers. If anyone hears of the auto locking kind please tell me where i can get then.
Do you mean auto locking or selectable? There aren't any selectable lockers, but there are auto lockers like the LockRight. I don't believe the Detroit is available though.
