Angry what just happened?!

ok, i own an 89' 5.0 with a 4 speed (granny gear). just this morning i went out to warm it up, depressed the clutch and *CLUNK* .......oh ****. i got out and looked under the truck and there lay a metal rod about the length of your index finger (and as thick) with two ***** at each end with a little peice of hose over it. The clutch is completely free now so im guessing it was somekind of linkage. Has anyone had this problem/know what the peice is? * please tell me its an easy fix not a 'you have to take the transmission out' type of thing.

-thanks

I'll take a GUESS. The clunk you heard doesn't sound good(no pun intended). The rod you found must be the linkage between the slave cylinder and the throwout bearing release lever. The throwout bearing may have frozen on the slide it works on causing the throwout bearing release lever to break( of sorts, it likely wouldn't break completely into two pieces). It could be something simpler like the bolts holding the slave cylinder on having sheared off, I would think they would have to of been loose for this to happen. Obviously, before you go tearing the transmission out, have someone familiar with this look at it.

Yea. Thats what that is.
New slave/master clutch cylinder time. =D

You have a 4 speed, so i duno where your slave is supposto be. if its on the outside, you can probably replace it yourself.
