Does anyone have a camper package on his SD? If so, could you descibe the "stabilizer bar" in the rear? If it is what I think it is, it might be an interesting option to an aftermarket sway bar for my Excursion...Thanks!
Hello, my partner just put a rear swaybar on the 00 Excursion 4x4 7.3 makes a world of difference, bought all the parts from Ford for under $200 cdn. thats about $120.us. Great add-on
monsta-
Is there a particular reason you're looking to install the OEM bar vs an aftermarket one? Price seems comparable, so I'm just wondering if there is some other reason. Generally speaking, aftermarket products are of superior quality when compared to OEM offerings.
Ya know you're right about the quality (as a general rule of thumb). I guess I was looking at it from the standpoint that I can actually SEE it, touch it etc. prior to buying it. There are NO shops around here that deal with sway bars on a regular basis (all special order). I also am just considering it as an option to an aftermarket item. At least this way I can go down to one of the Ford lots that have a truck with the camper package installed and see what it looks like. I don't know anyone around here with an Excursion with an aftermarket sway bar installed. Pictures at Hellwig just don't really help...
If you'd like, I can try to take some pics of the Hellwig I just installed on m F350. There's not much to an anti-swaybar... just the bar and end-links. Not sure about the OEM bar on the SD/X, but the one on my wife's Expy is a TUBE vs a solid bar. The Hellwig is solid- which provides even more sway resistance.
By all means, NoMo, show da pics! I know they are not complicated things but I'm a touchy, feely kinda shopper. I do want a solid bar and have no doubt that the Hellwig will fit the bill. I just want to make sure I'm dealing with someone reputable when I buy and someone that I can go to if there are any problems. That's is the only reason why I considered the OE part...If quality and price is the same (bar AND bushings) and I can drive 4 miles to a dealer and buy it, I'll probably opt for the OE bar. I don't have anyone around me that deals with these things. Online and catalog shopping are fine when you know EXACTLY what you want, and maybe I do...I guess I just need some testimonials for a particular company that I can go through.
Got any?
Monsta, I have the camper package and I have not looked to see if the sway bar is just a bolt on or not. Some brackets may be welded on.
Back in my offroading/jeep days, Not so long ago, I used macromotive.com for a lot of my stuff. They were great with customer service and quick to ship stuff. I don't know if they even sell what you are looking for, but they do have good service.
I know there are a lot of good retailers of parts out there, but finding one sometimes is dificult.
