i know this belongs in the steering section, but i couldnt seem to get an answer there,so maybe someone here may have a guess..my steering gearbox went out on my 78 f-150,i had powersteering to the right but not to the left. so i put a steeringbox off a parts truck on it. now i have powersteering both ways, but it turns right very, very easy and is a little too stiff turning left. i jacked the front tires up off the ground and the wheels turn to the right by themselves. could i have an airbubble in the fluid trapped in the gearbox cousing this?what could be the reason?....better yet,..what is the solution?
thanks for any help david
with your tires pointed straight ahead , turn the steeriong wheel both directions , counting th number of turns each way , if they are not the same you need to pull your pitman back off and center your steering ,there is a high point that needs to be centered, bob
Cardone does not make very good steering parts, my local parts store deals in them, i had went through 3 PS pumps on my chev in about 500 miles, i am not that hard on things.
