I have a 1992 Bronco Nite Edition. My back window will not roll down(or up). It worked good, but then one day it didn't work. I mean it didn't give me any signs it was going bad. This is probably just coincidence, but I was climbing a pretty steep hill and my tool box rolled and slammed against the tailgate; after that it didn't work. I know it is common to have problems with the back window. I took the whole thing apart last week. I tested the motor, the fuses, the wiring, and all the moving parts. Everything checks out good. I haven't tested the switches, only because I'm not sure how. Neither the tailgate nor the dash switch works. I'm stumped.
there is a stupid little safety switch on the tailgate to make sure it is closed i think i would check that. to a search on this forum for rear window and you should find out all ya need to know
Hear any noises like anything is cutting on, just not working? You know that electronic whiring sound. Your box probably broke something internally on a part. Good luck with this one. -wb
You can stick a screw driver into the latch and check and see if the motor is getting power.
If the tailgate is not latched and only half latched, the motor wont work.

have someone sit in the truck to operate the switch for you . go around to the tailgate and push it shut real hard and lean on it especiallyn the driver side. it should now work, if so your latch safety switch is not adjusted correctly. your tool box hitting the gate will definately have something to do with it.
Been there and really hated it. I tried everything also, but discovered that if I held the key switch on, and stuck my hand inside the tailgate I could get the window to jog by pressing on something rectangular near the latch. What finally worked for me was to drench the driver-side tailgate latch with WD-40 and manualy open and close it a few times (do both sides). It then closed easier and the window works great now. Try it, I bet it'll work.

I would do the same. Make sure that the tailgaite is closed all of the way. There might be one side that didn't catch.
There is a safety switch as everyone has already told you. It is located inside the tailgate next to the driver's side latch and is a known pain in the A** Alot of people have bypassed it. Here is a link to the wiring diagram for your tailgate. that way you can do the same or it may help you in tracking the problem. scroll down on the image and click the ORIGINAL IMAGE link. It will give you the larger version. http://www.imagestation.com/mypictur...3&from_album=1
I have a 92 Bronco too. Had the same problem and checked everything. Dash switch and tail switch didn't move window. Motor worked the window when jumpered. Simple fix: Bought a pair of replacement plastic collors from any parts supply. Replaced the worn/missing collors on the latch stud. Works great. $5.00
I can't believe it! All I had to do was just shut the tailgate a little further. You can imagine the way I feel right now..........stupid. I swear it was closed all the way(famous last words).
Just want to say thanks for all of the help on this thread. I come home from work today and my wife informed me that the window would not roll up. I go out and take the inside of the tailgate apart and still couldn't figure out what was wrong. I then decide to check this site and then this thread. i then go outside. Slam the tailgate shut and bingo, the window rolls up. Thanks again.
Things Happen. But one thing to think about...you shouldn't need to "slam" the tailgate shut. May be worth a little time to get in there and make sure everything is greased up good so it moves easily..and that the little bushing that the latches sit on when closed isnt too worn out. Other than that. YEA! for not having to tear things all apart or having to spend any $$ on it.
