I my daughter has a 2000 Ford Ranger 4W drive , 58,000 mile ,automatic 3.0L engine. service manager is telling her he cann't do a front end alignment becuase the frame is bent. $800 for a frame $200 to put in. Does this sound reasonable???
Welcome to FTE r2la.
Pardon me for saying so, but I would get a second opinion.
Has the truck been in any accidents?
Are you talking about the chassis(frame) or a control arm(frame)?
Try not to offend your daughters sensibilities when you offer to take the vehicle for a second opinion.....yourself.
You definetly need a second opinion and find out just what is bent. If it is the frame most any bodyshop with a frame machine can straighten it for much less. If it is something else check for parts in a local salvage. A good used part is all you need sometimes.
I don't want to point out the obvious, but have you checked the tire pressure yet? Pulling to the right with an odd wear pattern is a symptom of improper tire pressure.
If the tires aren't too far gone, get them balanced and rotated side to side to eliminate the tires from the equation.
